Just like millions of other people around the world, Joyce Spencer has always been a fan of Sade’s music, so adding some of her songs to the playlist of Joyce Spencer & Expressions Cover Band was an easy choice, not to mention a crowd favorite. A promoter in Colorado Springs took notice and booked her for a Sade Tribute show along with a few songs from her album.  Well, the show was a great success and was asked to return by popular demand; however, this was in 2020 during the COVID pandemic and all plans were canceled.  

Just like any other band, Joyce Spencer faced doubt and rejection from the locals, but because some friends, family, and fans believed in her, she decided to produce her own Sade Tribute Show in 2023.  The end result was a sold out show three weeks before the event.  When two band members and her manager, LaDarien Spencer, suggested a second show, LaDarien booked another night at Ervay Theater and that show sold out as well. Now we endeavor to take this show on the road to a nationwide audience under TEG Management and booking agent, LaDarien Spencer.  

As a singer and multi-instrumentalist (saxophones and flute), Joyce Spencer brings a very entertaining twist to the Sade Tribute Show.  You may find her whisking across the stage with turbulent energy on her saxophone and next thing you know she has smoothed it down again to Sade’s signature sound on vocals.  All this while she continues to perform with her band at festivals, corporate and private events as a cover band and solo act.  Joyce said, “As long as I’m still breathing I will continue to create and motivate with the gift of music in various forms and platforms."
